Journal of the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences (JNDS)
General Information
Journal of the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences (JNDS) is an open access, online only journal that showcases case reports and contemporary issues in Surgery including but not limited to sustainability, Global Surgery, inequalities in gender and race. It also considers submissions of high quality reviews on clinical topics, and clinical research in all fields of surgery. We encourage submissions from students all over the world and as below, waive the charges if from a lower income country.
JNDS follows the guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and implements best practice in scientific publishing with a double-blind peer review process. All case report submitted requires a signed consent form from the patient. Research pertaining to patients will require appropriate ethics approval or institutional board review.
Authors planning to submit their work to JNDS should follow the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals formulated by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

All submitted manuscripts undergo first tier Editorial review. Only manuscripts of sufficient quality that meet the aims and scope of JNDS will undergo a second tier double blind review process by external Reviewers.

Article processing charge (APC)
There are no submission fees payable to this journal. An article process fee of £1000 is applicable to submissions if accepted for publication. APC is waived for the submission if the Lead/Corresponding/Senior Author(s) are Members and Alumni of Oxford University, including students. APC is further waived for manuscruipt submitted from WHO Low Income Countries as part of our commitment to Global surgery and as a social enterprise.
As part of the submission process you will be required to warrant that you are submitting your original work, that you have the rights in the work, that you are submitting the work for first publication in the Journal, that it is not being considered for publication elsewhere and has not already been published elsewhere, and that you have obtained and can supply all necessary permissions for the reproduction of any copyright works not owned by you.
Copy right and permissions
Authors will retain copyright alongside scholarly usage rights and JNDS will be granted publishing and distribution rights.
